The recently concluded 'Indian Census 2011' showed that the population of India has crossed the 1 billion mark and the population of Maharashtra is somewhere around the 110 million. The Maharashtra census 2011 shows that the state is doing well in terms of literacy rate and sex ratio and continues its march towards being one of the leading states in the country.
